Holy Bible Verses God
Identify the Bible of God that is written in accurate but understandable language and best for daily study. Know who numbered the holy Bible chapters and why the Bible verses were numbered.
There are a number of good interpretations of the holy Bible but the NRSV Bible is best for study as it uses not too demanding English language. The Good News Bible on the other hand offers the simplest of English language but over simplification has a drawback. Trying to make the language too easy ends up in diluting the message. Therefore although it is good for reading for beginners it is not recommended for Bible study students.
The ancient and original texts of the Bible did not have any numbering for chapters or Bible verses. It was only in the 13th century that Archbishop Stephen Langton came out with a system of numbering Bible chapters.
In the 16th century the printing press was invented. Large number of Bible copies could be printed but handling such number of pages was a big difficulty for the printers. There needed to be some identification for the different pages.
During this time a man named Robert Stephanus (Estienne) came out with the idea of numbering Bible verses. The Old Testament was printed with numbers in 1551. The New Testament was printed with numbers in 1571.
There were others who came out with alternate numbering systems but these two have been widely accept even in present times.
